BOILING SPRINGS, NC - Ashley Hawkins, a standout player for the Cypress Women's Basketball program during the 2022-23 season, has been named to the Big South All-Conference First-Team, Big South Newcomer of the Year, and the Scholar Athlete of the Year at NCAA Division 1 Gardner-Webb University.

Bio
Debbie Chavez is entering her 3rd year as an assistant coach for the Chargers. Chavez is an Alumnus who played for Cypress from 2009-2011.
In her 2010-2011 season Chavez was named second team all conference and helped the team advance to the state semifinals. 
Chavez went on to play at New Mexico Highlands University at the Division 2 level, where she would receive her Bachelors in Psychology. 
“I am so happy to be back around the game I grew up loving. This game and this program have done so much for me. I looking forward to helping our team succeed on and off the court”.
