Tillar's Hot Bat Powers No. 9 Cypress to 15-9 Victory Over El Camino
Chargers' offense shines as Justin Tillar belts his seventh home run in just eight games to lead Cypress past the Warriors
CYPRESS, CA – The No. 9-ranked Cypress Chargers Baseball team powered past the El Camino Warriors 15-9 in an offensive showcase at home on Tuesday afternoon. The win highlights the Chargers' dominance in the competitive Orange Empire Conference, which boasts five teams in the top 10 of the CCCMBCA Southern California rankings.
Leading the charge for Cypress was Justin Tillar, who continues his incredible start to the season. Tillar smashed his seventh home run in just eight games, adding to his impressive stat line with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate and driving in five runs. His two-run blast in the fourth inning extended the Chargers' lead and further cemented his reputation as one of the most dangerous hitters in the conference.
The Chargers wasted no time jumping on the scoreboard, putting up seven runs in the first two innings off El Camino's starting pitcher, Will DeBlanc. Contributions came from across the lineup, with Ty Peters and Dylan Radaszewski driving in runs early and Travis Curry scoring twice while stealing a base. Cypress kept the pressure on throughout the game, adding runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to put the game out of reach.
The bullpen held strong, with Jayson Thomas throwing 2.1 scoreless innings in relief. William Sarkis closed out the game, working around a pair of walks in the ninth.
UP NEXT: Cypress plans to run it back on Wednesday afternoon against Cerritos College on February 12. Chargers take the mound at 1:30pm.
