CYPRESS, CA- Cypress men's basketball (18-11, 10-6 OEC) won their first round matchup and will now visit the Citrus Owls (25-3, 13-1 WSC) for the second round of playoffs.
In the Chargers first postseason matchup, they fought hard to come back from behind and finish on top. Down ten points at half, Cypress did not relent with their energy and effort. Grant Sii, who was selected to the All-OEC First-Team, led the scoring for both sides with his 20-points. The Chargers aggressive play in the paint ushered eight more rebounds that proved to be an important factor for ball control. With ten minutes left in the game, the visiting team took the lead and never gave it up to win, 76-71.
The team's second half grit and determination has allowed them to compete in the second round for the second consecutive year. The #18 ranked Cypress squad will be on the road against the #2 seeded Citrus Owls. After only suffering one loss to conference opponents, the Owls managed to bypass the first round of the bracket. The second round of the CCCAA postseason will tip-off on Saturday, February 25th at 7pm.
DETAILS: Per CCCAA regulations, tickets will be $12 for Adults and $8 for Youth/Students/Seniors 55+.
