Cypress Water Polo Alumnus Bernice (Orwig) O'Connor is Selected for the 2024 3C2A Hall of Fame Class
SACRAMENTO, CA- The 3C2A has announced Bernice (Orwig) O'Connor from Cypress College Water Polo to the 2024 3C2A Hall of Fame Class. Orwig is a Olympic Games silver medalist, NCAA National Player of the Year, Three-time All-America selection at USC and National Champion, and served as a coach at the National, Division 1, and Community College levels.
SACRAMENTO, CA- The 3C2A has announced Bernice (Orwig) O'Connor from Cypress College Water Polo to the 2024 3C2A Hall of Fame Class. Orwig is an Olympic Games silver medalist, NCAA National Player of the Year, Three-time All-America selection at USC and National Champion, and served as a coach at the National, Division 1, and Community College levels. Bernice was recently inducted to the 2023 Hall of Fame Class at Cypress College Athletics. At Cypress, she was the goalkeeper for the men's water polo team in the 1995-96 season, where she accumalated 51 saves as a freshman. After her time as a Charger, she went on to play for the University of Southern California Trojans and earned the Peter J. Cutino Award as the nation's top player in the NCAA. At USC, she received All-America Honors and led the team to the 1999 NCAA title. In Summer of 2000, Orwig helped lead the U.S. National team to a Silver Medal at the Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.
