
Cypress Chargers Men’s Water Polo Set for SOCAL Regional Showdown Against Grossmont
Chargers and Griffins Meet for Third Time This Season with a Spot in the Quarterfinals on the Line
CYPRESS, CA — The Cypress College Chargers Men's Water Polo team is gearing up for a high-stakes showdown in the 2024 3C2A SOCAL Regionals. On Thursday, November 14, the Chargers will face off against the Grossmont Griffins in the first round at 2:00 p.m. at Orange Coast College. Cypress enters the competition as the No. 8 seed, while Grossmont holds the No. 9 seed. This matchup marks the third encounter between the two teams this season.
In their first meeting on September 12, Cypress emerged victorious with a tight 12-10 win. Grossmont responded in the rematch on November 2, edging out the Chargers in a 14-13 thriller. With each team claiming a win, this decisive regional game is set to be an intense battle as both sides are determined to advance.
The winner will move on to face the south's top-seeded team, Golden West, on Friday, November 15, at 2:00 p.m.
Cypress concluded the regular season with a 13-12 record, while Grossmont enters with a 22-9 finish.
