CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress College men's soccer team held tough in a physical matchup with El Camino, earning a 1-1 draw at home on Tuesday.
El Camino opened the scoring in the 20th minute. The Chargers tightened defensively after the early goal, with goalkeeper Demian Baldovinos stepping up to record three saves and keep the Warriors from adding to their lead.
Cypress turned up the pressure in the second half, firing off 10 of their 12 total shots after the break. The tying goal came in the 76th minute, when Erik Hernandez scored his third goal of the season on an unassisted strike to even the match at 1-1. Hernandez led the way offensively with two shots, including the game-tying goal, while Giovanny Villagrana sparked the attack with a team-high four shots.
With the result, Cypress moves to 2-1-1 on the season while El Camino sits at 1-1-2.
