Cypress Men’s Basketball Looks to Carry Momentum into 2025–26 Season
Chargers Aim to Build on Historic Playoff Run Under Coach Drew Alhadeff
CYPRESS, CA – As the Cypress College Chargers Men's Basketball team gears up for the 2025–2026 season, the program is ready to build on its historic 2024–25 campaign, which saw the team finish with an impressive 23–10 overall record and a third-place finish in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC).
Under the leadership of 12th-year Head Coach Drew Alhadeff, the Chargers return a strong core of players from last season's roster. The 2024–25 squad was highlighted by standout performances from Michael Wright, who led the team with 442 points, and a historic playoff run that saw Cypress advance past the second round for the first time since the 1990–91 season. Cypress will also see the return of Jack Rivera, a 6'2" spark plug off the bench who shot 41% from the field and 35% from 3PT range.
The Chargers will open their 2025–26 season at home against Glendale College on October 16 on Don Johnson Court. Their schedule features a competitive mix of home and away contests that will challenge their resilience and sharpen their play as the season progresses. Cypress will also compete in the Grossmont Tournament in early December before entering a crucial stretch of conference matchups in January and February 2026.
With a blend of veteran leadership, returning talent, and high expectations, the Cypress Chargers are primed to make another deep run and continue their rise within the Orange Empire Conference.
