Cypress Outlasts Long Beach in Extra Period Thriller
Chargers Defeat Vikings in Overtime
CYPRESS, CA – Cypress College women's basketball (6-0) remained perfect on the season, grinding out a 65–57 overtime victory against Long Beach City (3-4) on Wednesday night at home.
Cypress controlled the first half with strong interior play, taking a 35–29 lead into the break. However, the Vikings battled back in the second half, capitalizing on turnovers and timely scoring to force overtime after a 10–10 fourth quarter.
In the extra period, the Chargers took over, outscoring the Vikings 13–5 behind disciplined defense and key buckets in the paint.
Christaesha Jackson led the way with a dominant double-double, finishing with 15 points and 13 rebounds while adding four assists, two blocks, and four steals. Alyssa Norada provided a major spark off the bench, scoring 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting. Mariah Henderson chipped in 12 points and eight boards, delivering key plays during the overtime surge.
Cypress owned the glass with a 38–30 rebounding advantage and generated 19 bench points, proving to be difference-makers in the tightly contested matchup.
