Cypress Women's Soccer Advances To 3C2A Finals With Semifinal Victory Over San Francisco

CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress College women's soccer team secured a thrilling 2-0 victory over San Francisco City College in the 3C2A State Semifinal on Friday, earning a spot in the championship match for a rematch against Folsom Lake College. The Chargers and Falcons will meet for the second consecutive year in the finals, with Cypress looking to avenge last year's narrow defeat.

Cypress wasted no time asserting their dominance. In the 13th minute, Megan Alcantara delivered from a free kick, putting the Chargers on the board. Just three minutes later, Amber Mielke doubled the lead, converting a brilliant assist from Itzel Ramirez to give Cypress a commanding 2-0 advantage.

Defensively, Cypress stood tall throughout the match, with goalkeeper contributions of three crucial saves split between the halves to keep San Francisco at bay. The Chargers' backline maintained composure, limiting the Rams' attacking opportunities and conceding only one corner kick in the contest.

The physicality of the game was evident, with San Francisco committing ten fouls to Cypress's three, but the Chargers maintained discipline to see the game through.

Cypress will now turn their focus to Sunday's championship showdown against Folsom Lake, setting the stage for a highly anticipated rematch with a state title on the line.
